Field Trip Info for July
A memo from Minerologie: 

Hello fellow rockhounds! I'm writing to let you know that Mineralogie's 2nd annual Tubing Crowley Agate Hunt has been scheduled for Saturday, July 11th!

Where: The Bogue Chitto Tubing Center, located at 10237 S Choctaw Rd, Bogalusa, LA 70427 (https://boguechitto.com/)

When: Saturday, July 11 at 10:00 am

Cost: $25 per tube if in cash ($28 if by card)

The trip will take 4 hours of tubing time, and there will be 8-10 beaches that we can rockhound, and they all have Crowley agates on them (and in the water). At the end of the hunt, we will have snacks and give out awards. Awards (and prizes) will be for most agates found, best agate, best fossil, and best non-agate rock.

Since we have a large group, the tubing company will provide as many cooler tubes (normally $10 each) as we need for free if you pay with the group! Please bring $25 per participant in cash (or a card to pay $28). We will collect the money at the tubing center, and check in and pay all together.

Tubing info:

*Children must be at least 5 y/o, and everyone under 15 y/o must wear a life jacket (provided by the tubing center). Life jackets are also available for any adult who wants one.

*Everyone must sign the tubing center's release form; we will have the group form printed for you to sign when you arrive. 

*Rain won't stop us! Wet agates are easier to spot anyway. We will tube rain or shine. (Lightning will stop us)

Stuff to bring: 

*Cooler/ice chest with drinks and snacks. It is hot! and we don't want anyone to get dehydrated. (Styrofoam and glass are not allowed.)

*Sunblock and hats are highly recommended. 

*Something to put your rock treasures in and a bag for your trash. Bogue Chitto is beautiful, and we want to keep it that way.

If you would like to join us, simply reply to this email with your RSVP and let us know if anyone will be joining you (so we have a rough idea of the total group size), and show up at the Bogue Chitto Tubing Center with your payment and accoutrements. That's it!

There's no limit to the number of people we can have, so invite your friends!
